Tata Motors is all set to launch the highly anticipated Tata Harrier EV in 2025, bringing electric power to its flagship SUV. Unveiled as a concept and later showcased at the Auto Expo, the Harrier EV will be based on Tata’s new Gen 2 EV architecture, offering a balance of rugged SUV performance, futuristic design, and a long driving range. This EV version will appeal to premium buyers looking for a commanding electric SUV with real-world practicality.

Aggressive Styling With EV-First Design Language

The Harrier EV will retain its muscular stance but adopt several electric-specific design elements to set it apart. Expect a closed-off grille, full-width LED light bar, sharper split headlamps, and aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels. It will also likely support over-the-air (OTA) updates, voice assistant integration, and a rotary gear selector with drive mode control.

Built on Tata’s Gen 2 EV Architecture for Safety and Space

The Harrier EV will be built on the brand’s Sigma platform, derived from the ICE Omega Arc but heavily re-engineered for electric vehicles. This allows for better battery placement, weight distribution, and structural rigidity. Safety will remain a priority with features like 6 airbags, ESP, ADAS Level 2, hill hold assist, and traction modes. Tata aims for a 5-star safety rating, as seen with many of its ICE counterparts.

Expected Price and Launch Timeline

The Tata Harrier EV is expected to launch in late 2025, with pricing estimated to start around ₹28 lakh and go up to ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and battery configuration. It will directly compete with other premium electric SUVs like the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, Hyundai Kona Electric, and even some entry-level EVs from global automakers.
